TENTH “RESCUE FLIGHT” FOR DOGS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED - “There are hugs and tears on transport day..It’s hard to let the dogs go, but the fosters know it’s best for the dog. People line up at these northern shelters for a chance to adopt a transport dog.”
A rescue organization called Operation Pets Alive recently organized its tenth flight for shelter dogs from Texas to be flown to shelters in other regions. It seems that shelters in the North and East have higher adoption rates. Read more from yourhoustonnews.com:
Outfitted with name tags on collars, nearly 30 dogs and puppies settled into pet carrier-crates inside the Cloud Nine Rescue plane for a trip that ended in Springfield, Mass recently.
Upon landing in Springfield, the dogs were taken to Dakin Pioneer Humane Society, a shelter known for its high adoption rate. Operation Pets Alive usually targets either long-term shelter dogs (60 days or more) or puppies…from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter (MCAS) or the Conroe Animal Shelter.
Why transport? “The shelters back East have a substantially better save rate than we do here at shelters in Montgomery County” says Marcia Piotter, President of Operation Pets Alive (OPA). “The primary reason is that people voluntarily spay and neuter their pets, knowing that there’s already an overpopulation of cats and dogs in our country…Through these two programs, we hope to minimize shelter intake and help more dogs get out of our shelters alive” says Cathi Bruhn, OPA secretary.
Operation Pets Alive partners with another organization called Cloud Nine Rescue Flights which handles the actual air transport. It had taken almost an hour for Issac to calm down enough for Orsino to feel safe letting him out of his office, the rage he had towards Kerras so great. After a long discussion on how the spell would work and the ramifications of going off and killing Kerras Issac was ready to face Aliea. The First Enchanter had been very clear that any mention of the spell would render it ineffective and doom Aliea to another round with Kerras or any other Templar still left standing.
